On behalf of Martin Nielsen I write this testimony based on my professional
collaboration and knowledge of his work and capacities within the field of
contemporary art.
Martin Nielsen has been deeply engaged in contemporary art for more than two
decades as a collector and as an innovative developer of projects integrating
artworks. I had the pleasure of working with Martin Nielsen in the early phase of
the development of his ambitious project, Cloud City, for the city of Aalborg in
Denmark. It was his idea to transform a former industrial complex into a new
neighborhood centered around an enormous public art work that he invited the
renowned Argentinian artist Tomas Saraceno to create.
Martin Nielsen has a sharp and innovative curatorial eye for matching
architectural structures or sites with artists who will fundamentally enhance the
project. That is artists whose artistic approach corresponds with the particular
architecture, institution or site. I have experienced Martin Nielsen as an
exceptionally devoted entrepreneur with an equally keen interest and deep
insight in art. Due to his wide network in the international art world as well as his
skills and experiences with fundraising, he is able to involve artists working on a
very high artistic level.
Martin Nielsen is very visionary and highly capable of realizing daring projects
involving some of the most interesting artists on the international art scene.
Sincerely,
Marianne Torp
